Research activities
Members of our department have made major research contributions to the various fields of zoological study. Many of professors are recognized internationally for their high level of research activity, and working on various fields of studies. Currently we implementing 6 research grants and some of them are joint research project with foreign institutes, namely “Long term ecological monitoring study in the forest-steppe ecosystem, North Mongolia” jointly with Center for Nature Conservation, Goettingen University, German; “Ecological studies of rodents and predator birds”, “Ecological study of wild ass-kulan”, “Population ecology of beaver and muckrats” in cooperation with Institute of Zoology, Halle-Wittenberg University, Germany; “Ecology and pasture management of the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan nature reserve” jointly with the University of Marburg, Germany; “Migration pattern of white-tailed gazelle” in cooperation of WCS with supported by UNDP; “Steppe Forward Programme” with support of the Zoological Society of London and Darvin Initiative, UK.
Besaides of this international projects, we implementing the projects entitled “Biodiversity of soil microarthropods and small mammals in Eastern Mongolia”, “Patterns of Composition and Dynamics of Soil Microarthropods in Main Vegetation Zones of Mongolia” granted by the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies and Science and Technology Foundation of Mongolia. Not only professor or lecturers of the department, but also graduate and undergraduate students are take in part these projects for learning the methods and techniques of field and laboratory studies, collecting data, making experiments etc.
The professor or lecturers of the department have been published more than about 20 textbooks and 140 scientific articles, most of latter were published in the international peer-reviewed journals in USA, Japan, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia and Korea etc. Their papers have been cited more than 80 times in the works of other researchers. Professors and lecturers of our department participate in the academic exchange agreements and scientific programs with renowned universities and institutes around the world.
