Overview

The Department of Zoology encompasses a truly integrative approach to the study of animal biology and ecology. There is a wide range of interests and expertise within the department. Because of this, students in Zoology can obtain specialized training in areas ranging from animal population to ecosystem study. The diversity of research programs also presents students with unique opportunities for a broad exposure to state of the biological research in areas outside of their main interests. Research interests in the Zoology department includes systematics, population and community ecology, biogeography, behavior, developmental biology, evolution and conservation of endangered species. Required courses for Zoology undergraduates include studies in all basic areas of invertebrate and vertebrate zoology. The Department of Zoology offers both undergraduate (BSc.) and graduate (MSc., PhD) degree programs.
