Academic activities
The study programs of zoology is closely connected with respective research and an intensive mentoring system of highly involved professors make the department an attractive place to study. The undergraduate and graduated programs of zoology are include the following main fields, as animal systematics, population and community ecology, biodiversity, biogeography, behavior, conservation of endangered, species which designed to meet the current needs of employers in those areas.
Currently we have more than 90 undergraduate and 20 graduate students who specializing in the field of zoology. Students are conducting the study on various groups of animals such as insects and other arthropods, mammals, fishes, birds etc., and taking part in the different research projects.

From 2003 the Department of Zoology implementing the study project entitled “Steppe Forward Programme” with support of the Zoological Society of London and Darvin Initiative, UK. In the frame of this project more than 60 students participated in the field study course, which took place in the Southern Gobi, Central and Khuvsugul provinces in various landscapes as Gobi desert, steppe and taiga forests etc. Students were mentored by Mongolian and foreign guest lecturers during the field study learning the advanced methods and principles of field study, and analysis of study data and results.
