What we have done

We are focused on interrelations between tree growth and site conditions on natural forests as well as on the influence of abiotic and biotic stresses on tree growth. The group topics and leaders are follows:

· Fire, Climate, and Human Interactions in the Bogd Mountains, Mongolia

Dr. Peter Brown, Dr. Jacques Tardif

We are used stand age structure and fire-scarred trees to document past fire timing and behavior, also we examined tree-ring proxy of temperature and drought, tree-ring proxy of river flow, and significant changes in human institutions /detailed results will be soon/.

· Variations in Climatic factors recorded in trees at different elevations at Bogd mountain, northern central Mongolia

Dr. Gordon Jacoby,  Dr. Neil Pederson

Traditional procedures for dendroclimatology continuously reconsidered for the better  climatic signals through improved sampling and chronology development techniques. The group were examined effect of site, microsite, tree selection, core selection, and data stratification. Within the limits of fieldweek time, we tested some of these effects. We were investigated in the field, sample, describe ecology, process samples, and did data analysis /detailed results will be soon/.

· Dendrochronological research of the timbers from a Buddhist Temple the Monastery Dambadarjialin

Dr. Willy Tegel,  Dr. Isabel Figueiral

The research aim was dating of timber from a historical building (Buddhist Monastery). We were got an introduction in following topics: Sampling and preparing of suitable wood, wood anatomical identification, measurement of the ring widths, cross-dating and cross correlation of tree ring patterns by statistical and visual matching, Interpretation and Presentation of the results /detailed results will be soon/.
